How The Other Half Loves has just opened at The Salisbury Playhouse and is showing until 4th March. I was very kindly invited down to the press night to watch it and spoiler alert, it was brilliant. How The Other Half Loves is Wiltshire Creative's production of Alan Ayckbourn's 1969 comedy.

The play, set in the 70s, depicts the lives of three couples whose lives are all intertwined. The production is really cleverly done with the whole show being set in just two dining rooms shown simultaneously. Without giving too much away, the show depicts their relationships, struggles as well as their infidelity. Whilst it doesn't sound like a laugh a minute from that description alone, it's fair to say it had the entire audience chuckling in their seats. Full disclosure, I would say that a couple of the jokes went over our heads, but I don't think Ayckbourn had Gen Z in mind when he wrote it 40+ years ago.

The cast were all brilliant and it didn't take long to get to know each of the characters and their quirks. For me, the stand-out was Fiona Foster played by Sherry Baines. Her character was great (and I don't mean that in a moral sense) and her outfits were cool too. Shoutout to *that* pink dress.

Fun fact, this is now the third time that How The Other Half Loves has been shown at the Salisbury Playhouse. Its debut was in 1973 and was then on again in 1986.

Overall, How The Other Half Loves at the Salisbury Playhouse was a solid 8/10 from me. It was really cleverly put together, very amusing and the cast was fantastic.

Tickets start from £12 and there are still a few seats left.
