The Home For The Weekend Makeup Bag

If you read my blog post on Wednesday alll about my relationship with makeup you'll know that I've recently got back into makeup, wearing makeup, makeup launches, product reviews, the lot. So, to kick off my foray back into the world of beauty I thought we'd chat through all the products I grab when I'm heading back home for the weekend.

The home for the weekend makeup bag. A round up of all of the beauty products I reach for when packing lightly.

My makeup bag itself is from Kate Spade and I LOVE it. Isn't it the prettiest thing ever? It's such a good size. I manage to fit all of these products in it and more, and it's a really good shape too. (Is that even a thing?)

If I'm just popping home for the weekend I don't typically have any crazy plans. No nights out nor flashy events so the products I reach for are always my no-makeup makeup staples. The simple base products, one eyeshadow palette and a couple of nude-ish lip products. The really easy go-to's, yanno?

For day to day wear, the foundation I've been reaching for the most is Rimmel's Match Perfection. I've been using it for so so long and it's just a bit of a classic. It's so easy to blend out, the shade I have - Light Porcelain - is a really good match for me during the winter and it just wears really well. I use this in conjunction with the holy grail Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and it's such a good combo. I genuinely cannot fault that concealer. It's such good coverage and retails at less than a fiver. I dread to think how many tubes of the stuff I've gone through...

Another classic product is my setting powder; Rimmel's Stay Matte. I've been using it for years and I don't think I'll ever stop repurchasing it. As for highlighter, I've been reaching for ELF's Moonlight Pearls a lot recently. It's a really pretty champagney shade and simultaneously looks very natural but also very glowy, win win.

I'm not usually a massive blush fan but Benefit's Goldrush has been my blush of choice of late. It's a really pretty pink shade and is so easy to blend out. As for bronzer, I'm still using NYC's Sunny Bronzer and I'm still a big fan. It's quite buildable and doesn't look too orange, which, when you're as pale as I am, is pretty good going.

I keep forgetting about my Mac Quads so I've been making a real effort to use mine more often. I have two, but the one that contains Satin Taupe is my absolute favourite. That eyeshadow is incredible. I'm not sure what it is about it but I just LOVE how it looks on me. When it runs out I will 100% be repurchasing it, it's a gooden. The mascara I'm currently using - and loving - is from Diego Dalla Palma. It's both volumising and lengthening, so, for me, is ticking all the boxes. In my brows, I use the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Tough As Taupe and have done for yeaaaars. It's the perfect ashy tone, and when applied with a light hand looks really really natural.

As for lips, I tend to reach for one gloss, one lipstick and one liquid lipstick. My current go-to lipgloss is Marc Jacobs' Pink Flamingo. As for liquid lipstick, NYX's Lip Lingerie in Baby Doll is my current favourite. It's such a pretty pink. I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that the only lipstick I ever really reach for is Mac's Velvet Teddy. It's an absolute cult favourite and is the prettiest shade ever. It wears really well and makes my teeth look whiter than they are, I genuinely don't think I can fault it.
