Sick Tings 038

10 February 2019

Aaaaand that's another week that's been and gone. It's actually been a really really good week, with lots of highs but also a massive low... So, you know that job I had the interview in London for? Well I didn't get it. It sucks. And, ironically about 20 minutes before I found that out I withdrew my application for another job lol. BUT, to quote a tweet I saw the other day 'rejection is just redirection' and I always tell myself that everything happens for a reason, so why is this any different. I clearly wasn't meant to work there and something bigger, better and more suited is sure to come along. So, now that we've got that out of the way, let's get on to the good stuff.

A lifestyle roundup of my week at university featuring all I've bought, watched, eaten, seen and been up to. Featuring being rejected by a job in London, the coolest PR package ever and three nights out

YOUR GAL GOT A 78 IN HER DISSERTATION. As I've mentioned many times before, on my course, at my uni, we write two smaller dissertations rather than one big one, and the first one I submitted in early January. Well, this week we got our results back and I only went and smashed it with a first! In case you were wondering or wanted to know, I did a systematic review and meta-analysis of the causes of deaths in homeless populations. The second half, the other dissertation that I need to start working on ASAP, is then my actual research study. For that, as long as my ethics gets approved, I will be going into homeless shelters and asking individuals to complete my questionnaire, and then running the statistics on the results and writing up a research paper on it all. Eeeek, what a busy few months I have ahead of me. Can we all just cross our fingers and toes that my ethics gets approved, I have my heart set on this project and I really don't want to have to do another...

The other massive thing that happened this week is I received the coolest parcel EVER from Pixi Beauty. I'll set the scene. My Mum messaged me to ask if I was expecting any parcels to my home address, to which I replied no, when she said that I'd received a huge parcel from Pixi... So, we facetimed whilst she opened it for me. It was essentially me just saying 'wow', 'is this really for me?' and 'I don't know what to say' every few seconds whilst she showed me what was inside. I really cannot believe that Pixi decided to send little old me a Galentines present, oh my god. I'm going to take a load of photos of it in the light tomorrow so expect a bombardment of photos over on the gram in the next few days.

So, I'm currently in third year and, hence, tend to opt for a cosy night in and a 10pm bedtime most nights of the week, but, this week I actually went out three times! Three!! I can't even remember the last time I did that. The first was a pub golf social that was actually really good fun. If you're unsure what it is, it's essentially just a pub crawl, but dressed in golfing attire with specific drinks and challenges to complete at each stop. The night then ended in a club that I hadn't been to in forever, so it was really good fun. I then went to a techno event on Thursday and then to a club I usually absolutely hate on Friday for one of my best pals' birthday. Well, shock horror, I actually didn't hate it at all and had the best time. I normally do everything I can to avoid going there, and despise every second I'm there, but this week was different. I'm not sure I wanna risk going again in case this was just a one off, yanno? But, I've spent a lot of this week feeling sorry for myself in my PJs, so I'm looking forward to having a few days without a hangover in sight.

In other news, this week Molly Craggs Design over on Instagram drew me and I actually think it's the coolest thing ever. So much so that I've made it my profile picture on my socials. Molly is so so talented so if you're looking for a custom illustration, she's your girl.

In light of Valentine's Day coming up next week I wrote a whole rambley post about being single and it has received some really really good responses. If you haven't already read it I've linked it above but the gist of it is it's better to be single than in a crappy relationship. The end.

Speaking of Valentine's Day, my plans for this year include a night out out (with a twist) with my gals and I'm so excited. It's something I've never actually done and I've been meaning to do for a while... (That makes it sound like a trip to the strip club, it's not, trust me).

What have you been up to this week?
