Sick Tings 039

17 February 2019

Hellooooo, welcome back, how are we all? Here we have it, another Sunday evening catch up on all that's happened in the last week. I've had another really busy 7 days and it's actually been amazing. I've been up to all sorts of things and the days have absolutely flown by.

A lifestyle roundup of my week at university featuring all I've bought, watched, eaten, seen and been up to. Featuring Valentine's Day, trying out kickboxing and a disappointing Nandos.

Besides lectures and lunch, the first social occasion of this week was Take Me Out. One of the societies at uni were hosting their own version for charity so me and a few of my pals went along to watch. Now, the absolute highlight of the night was the videos the boys had made to introduce themselves. Some of them genuinely had me crying with laughter, they were fantastic. There's another Take Me Out in March and I think I might have to sign some of my friends up for it, I think that'd be hilarious.

My psychology friends and I went for one of our regular Nando's trips and I was actually kinda disappointed with my meal this week... That never happens, Nando's can do no wrong. I went for my usual double chicken burger with peri chips and the chicken was just a bit naff, booooo. The original plan was to go out for cocktails afterwards but the day we chose just so happened to be the day of one of the big Champions League matches so we ended up going to the pub to watch the football instead. (This is what happens when you make friends with the only boys on your course). We had a really fun night though regardless, and I got strangely into the football.

I waffle on about my dissertation all the time but this week I hit another milestone. I finally got my ethics submitted for my research paper. For those of you who are new around here, a quick summary; I study Psychology, as part of my dissertation we have to run our own research study, the first half of mine was on homelessness and hence so is my proposed research. In order to carry out said study, we have to obtain the go-ahead from the ethics board of the University. This essentially just oversees what everyone is doing, what the wider implications of the research could be etc. Anyway, there's a lot of paperwork and planning involved with submitting ethics and this week I finally got it all in and sorted. Fingers crossed it gets approved!

Ahhh, February 14th, Valentine's Day. I think this years' was my favourite V-Day ever, and even more impressively, my favourite night out ever. Now, what was I doing I hear you ask? Bongo's Bingo - that's what. It was genuinely the best night ever. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, imagine turning up at your favourite club and it is filled with tables and benches. Everyone is handed bingo cards and a pen on arrival, and the DJ has got the music blaring. He makes everyone get up on the benches and dance to get 'warmed up'. Then, the bingo begins with all sorts of jokes, euphemisms, music interludes etc in between. The prizes range from £500 to a hoover to a Zac Efron cardboard cut out, and if there are two people who call bingo at the same time there is a dance off. Best night everrrrr. Oh, and it also starts at 7 meaning you can be back home, in bed before midnight. Woop woop.

This weekend has just been spent exercising - corr I am a changed woman aren't I? Saturday saw me attend a gifted session at 9round Southampton with the Soton Bloggers. Becca doing kickboxing? Who'd have thought it. It was genuinely really good fun and despite being only a 30 minute session I left feeling oh so sweaty. Sorry to the poor gal who had to sit next to me on the bus home.

Now, I woke up today not feeling sore at all so decided to head for a swim because I didn't really fancy going to the gym... Guess who ended up swimming lengths on her own for an hour. Yep, that's me. For someone that normally spends all her time in a swimming pool messing around, an hour's worth of lengths is a pretty big deal. As soon as I got home my muscles were beginning to ache so I have a slight feeling I won't be able to walk tomorrow... Eeeek.

What have you been up to this week?

  1. I'd love to see a mate on Take Me Out but whenever I offer to sign them up (they're always male), they decline! We had a quiet weekend: board games and wine on Friday night, a pub lunch on Saturday with the family and a chilled out day on Sunday when I cooked a mushroom stroganoff and we watched the finale of Hunted. Sometimes a weekend of not a lot is good for the soul x
